All that's taking place in the Middle East these days is extremely disturbing and heart wrenching. The escalating violence that is occuring on a daily basis in Lebanon is crazy...and yet we here over in the West have the option of distancing ourselves from it by simply turning off our television... while families and children in Lebanon are being destroyed by senseless acts of violence and war . A complicated mixture of politics, religion and history that I unfortunately know very little about. I wonder though, how much we have been affected (unconsciously no less!) here in the West by the biases in our own media. The stuff i see on FOX news these days can be so absolutely ridiculous. There is so much going on that doesn't get reported to us by our western media...check out this guy George Galloway's interview on Sky news...he gives an interesting flip side to this coin that all too often I am not aware of. *sigh*...bring your peace Lord Jesus.

    Amen, Tai!

I've realized that true 'unbiased' reporting is a myth... virtually EVERY news report from ANY source is either exaggerated (to reflect the reporters bias) or softened (to likewise reflect the reporters bias). Add to this equation the pressure for ratings and simple stories can quickly and easily become "sensational".

If you want an idea of whats going on, read/view as much as you can -- from as many sources as you can. From Fox to CNN, from Michael Moore to convervative talk radio. From The Standard to the NY Times. If you take the reporting that Western and Chinese media do about the situation in China (the one area of the world that I have first-hand experience in, albeit limit), my instinct tells me that the 'real story' is usually somewhere in the middle.
